The head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, previously promised that the LADA Iskra would go into production in 2024, but then these dates were postponed to 2025. However, according to the Avtograd News community on the social network VKontakte, preparatory work at the plant has already begun started. “In the production of plastic products at AVTOVAZ, they are starting to try to paint plastic elements for the promising Iskra project in test mode,” the message said.
It is already known that the LADA Iskra line will undergo three changes. There will be two bodies and the two-piece version in the factory documentation is indicated as a hatchback, not a station wagon. The sedan is designated with the index LJO, the five-door is BJO and the “off-road” five-door is BJO Cross.
Last summer, the LADA Iskra prototype was spotted during road tests in Tolyatti. The model is positioned as a replacement for the Granta family, which AVTOVAZ plans to produce for a number of years to come.
