Taxi drivers must prepare a four-party report in the event of an accident

The Ministry of Transport has developed and published on the portal of legal acts draft amendments to the rules for the carriage of passengers and luggage by electric transport by road, rail and ground, as well as by taxi delivery services. The document describes a new procedure for registering traffic accidents for these categories.

As Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports with reference to the bill, an accident report must be prepared by the carrier or its representative – for example, a taxi service. The document must be drawn up in relation to any event that has caused damage to the passenger’s life, health or property during the journey. If the certificate is drawn up by a transport company, it must exist in three copies: one kept by the carrier, the second by the victim and the third by the insurer.

And if the document is prepared by a representative of a taxi aggregator, a fourth copy of the act is also required. One of them will be kept by the taxi delivery service, the second will be provided to the carrier within one working day from the date of the event, the third must be provided to the victim within five working days from the date on which the carrier or taxi delivery service was contacted, and the fourth is sent to the insurer, the bill says.

The changes will come into effect on September 1, 2024.
