Market participants and analysts believe that sales of electric vehicles will reach 30,000 units in the next year, that is, the result will approximately double. However, the excitement is slowly waning against the backdrop of the high cost of electric trains in Russia and infrastructure problems.
As Kommersant reports with reference to the forecast of the agency Avtostat, the new electric vehicle segment will reach 25,000 units in 2024 in the base scenario (+77%), in the optimistic scenario – 34,000 (an increase of 2.4 times), in the pessimistic scenario – 18,000 (+27%). Experts predict a sales volume of 1.15-1.25 million for the passenger car market this year: electric cars will therefore account for 2.1-2.5% in the base scenario versus 1.3% in 2023.
According to a survey by the National Rating Agency, sales of new electric trains increased 4.7 times last year to more than 14,000 units. After analyzing the PPK data, Autostat made it clear that 14,090 electric vehicles have been sold. The top five mainly consists of the Chinese Zeekr (3,700 cars), Volkswagen and Tesla, which are not represented in Russia. Among the ‘official’ electric cars, Lipetsk’s Evolute and Voyah are at the top.
High sales growth is possible only if more affordable models appear on the market with prices up to 2,000,000 rubles and depending on the development of refueling infrastructure, analysts say.
