Which Chinese cars are most often recalled in Russia and why?
Chinese companies operating in the Russian market periodically invite their customers to service centers to eliminate certain technical defects identified during the operation. On the one hand, it’s good to care about the consumer. On the other hand, it is a direct reference to the mediocre quality of the product.

Haval models, so loved by Russian buyers, have repeatedly been subjected to service campaigns related to various technical problems. For example, Rosstandart recently announced the need for owners of the popular Haval F7 crossovers and the coupe-like version F7x to visit car repair shops. The reason is the risk of short circuit and ignition of the wiring harness connector under the driver’s seat. The recall affects more than 32,000 vehicles sold in Russia between December 1, 2022 and December 27, 2023. It turned out that the infamous connector is not protected from moisture, and the dangers of this we have already explained.

Far more devastating, however, was the reason that contributed to the lightning-fast trip to the dealer, when Haval models literally caught fire while parked in sub-zero temperatures. Therefore, the Chinese promptly organized a service campaign, during which they neutralized the defects associated with insufficient tightness of the fuel system for free. In addition, approximately 55,000 Haweil vehicles were recalled for one reason or another for the installation of previously uninstalled ERA-GLONASS emergency call terminals. Level – there’s no other way to say it!

At one time, owners of the Geely Atlas crossover were also at risk of a car fire. The reason for this is possible damage to fuel lines at temperatures below 40 degrees and exposure to static electricity. However, the elements were quickly replaced by dealer specialists with modified ones, and fortunately Atlas owners did not experience any major problems. Well done, “Dzhilishniks” – they did their job well.

The Chery company once invited owners of the Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 7 Pro crossovers to the repair area to install rubber door seals to protect the thresholds from moisture, dirt and chemicals liberally sprinkled on Russian roads. As you might guess, the openings with the thresholds quickly became covered with rust due to the water and “chemicals” – there is probably no point in talking about the insidious consequences. And due to possible problems with the transmission cooling hoses and the operation of the remote starting system for the power unit, the Chinese advised owners of Chery Tiggo 8 to contact dealers. No massive complaints were registered, but close interaction with customers was definitely a “like”.

Meanwhile, it should be added that owners of Chinese cars of different brands regularly encounter assembly errors and all kinds of operational problems. It is good that dealers eliminate them in some cases, even without involving the importer.
