Dump apocalypse: Russian megacities turn into garbage dumps due to lack of garbage trucks
Nearly 4,000 foreign garbage trucks will have to be dismantled in Russia and replaced with Russian, Belarusian and Chinese counterparts, warns Denis Butsaev, head of the Russian Ecological Operator. In addition, the top “garbage ecologist” warns that the total number of garbage trucks will grow by 20%! Allegedly, domestic and “heavenly” manufacturers do not have analogues of European cars. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” decided to check the loud statements of Mr. Butsaev.

In fact, the aforementioned “analogues of European cars” are, of course. Instead of vehicles with an average tonnage of the MAN brand, you can buy gas “Lawns” and “Valdai” or the new KAMAZ “Compass”, about which the portal “AvtoVzglyad” spoke in sufficient detail. Also, models of medium tonnage are offered by the Belarusian MAZ, not to mention a whole cohort of Chinese brands.

With heavy trucks, the situation is also reasonably solvable. KamAZ continues to produce proven trucks of the classic K3 series, and the aforementioned Belarusians and Chinese will help fans of more modern developments.

It turns out that the words of the head of the Russian Ecological Operator, to say the least, do not correspond to reality. Perhaps Mr. Butsaev wanted to say that domestic manufacturers are not able to produce modern superstructures?

Also past! Yes, European add-on manufacturers (such as Zoeller and Geesinknorba) seem to have to leave the market. But from purely Russian companies capable of building a garbage truck, one can mention the Arzamas municipal engineering plant, the Ryazhsky auto repair plant, as well as the Avtobau, Moskommash and Ecomtech companies.

Of course, in the past, bodybuilders actively used imported components. For example, the hoppers were usually made of Swedish steel, but recently the supply of the well-known brand Hardox, which is produced by SSAB, has been discontinued. Hydraulic pumps were used in Italian or German.

It was only at the recent CTT fair that Turkish and Chinese manufacturers showed both ready-made hydraulic systems and individual components such as cylinders and pumps. And Swedish metal found a local alternative – steel 09G2S. The Belarusian “Mogilevtransmash” generally makes hydraulics itself!

So if the garbage collectors really have to dismantle almost 4,000 foreign garbage trucks, there is a domestic replacement for them! This means that the Moscow, Smolensk, Kaluga and Belgorod regions, where foreign cars were actively used for waste disposal, will not be overgrown with mountains of waste.
