Moscow currently hosts the VIII International Business and Government Forum “Russian Retail Week”. It seems, where is the Russian retail trade and where is the car news? It turns out to be quite close! At this event, GAZ Group unexpectedly presented a pre-production version of the latest Sobol NN.
Since foreign brands for various reasons have left Russian carriers without small vans, the GAZ group is in a hurry to occupy the occupied niche. Her Sobol NN is not only an alternative for the Ford Transit vans, but also for the more compact Citroën Jumpy and Peugeot Expert.
Thanks to its small dimensions (vehicle length – 5120 mm) and a small turning circle (5.4 m), a gas van can easily drive through narrow streets and busy warehouses, and park in yards without hindering cars.
In terms of technology and interior, Sobol NN repeats the related Gazelle NN. Specifically, the exhibition specimen is equipped with a Cummins diesel engine, a six-speed “mechanics” of its own design and rear-wheel drive.
The model should go into series very soon: at the Russian Retail Week they showed a pre-production version of the car – with a three-seater cabin and a cargo area that can fit 7.8 cubic meters of cargo (dimensions – 2600x1860x1614 mm).
As the AvtoVzglyad portal became known, in the future the Sobol NN line will also be able to offer minibuses and a wide variety of vans – with single-row and double-row cabs, as well as different height options.
