It turns out that AVTOVAZ can produce Renault models, but only under the LADA brand. This was personally announced by the president of the company, Maxim Sokolov, at the RIA Novosti bureau.
– We have licenses under the agreement for the production of these vehicles. Even on a new platform, just like the Renault Duster. But here we carefully weigh all the risks,” noted Mr. Sokolov.
According to the new head of the car giant, the company fears a possible shortage of the necessary components for the production of “French”. And so they are careful.
– But we carefully weigh all the risks here. (…) The transfer of production facilities is quite expensive and requires serious temporary resources’, the manager notes.
In very simple terms, AVTOVAZ can use French platforms and produce Logans, Sanderos and Dusters. But he prefers to wait for ‘better times’.
Meanwhile, the only model produced by the factory is the LADA Granta. In addition, the 2022 version turned out to be as much as 103,200 rubles cheaper than the pre-reform model.
