The authorities decided to revive the old Soviet brands. Moscow is planning to produce Moskvich cars on the territory of the former AZLK, and there are plans to revive Pobeda with the Volga. About why the Soviet past is being revived and what the new domestic car industry will look like, the AvtoVzglyad portal reflects.

So far, the authorities have not given details about the companies with which Russian specialists will revive Soviet brands. But officials are already ready to support such projects. Therefore, you need to understand from the outset who will design or provide a platform for the production of a new line of machines.

Making a “shopping cart” is a difficult task. For example, from 2008 to 2011, AVTOVAZ developed a platform for LADA Vesta together with Magna International from Canada. Now you can no longer count on the help of the West and you have to launch the conveyor belts yesterday. Therefore, the purchase of ready-made platforms seems to be the best option. The Chinese and Indians have them.

As for Moskvich, it will be revived by the US together with KamAZ. And the latter has a partner in the person of JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Co) from China. The Chinese have already tried to enter our market and sell cars, but the results are not very encouraging. Now there is another chance. The range of “Jack” is wide. There are sedans, crossovers, vans and even the iEV7S electric car. Thus, in the former Renault factory, it is quite possible to produce a compact crossover under the Moskvich brand, in which some body panels will be their own to exclude resemblance to the related Jack. The engine will most likely be fueled with gasoline. And later an electric car will appear, which will be made to order for car-sharing in Moscow. It may well resemble the infamous Kama-1 prototype.

The Volga and Pobeda brands are owned by GAZ. But in Nizhny Novgorod, everything is “sharpened” for the production of commercial vehicles, so cars will certainly be assembled together with partners. It could be the same Chinese. For example, the Chinese group SAIC is not yet represented in Russia, but it is the largest state-owned industrial giant. He has a joint venture with Volkswagen and also owns the Roewe, MG and Maxus brands.

It is quite possible that the Chinese will be interested in where the Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Taos were produced. On this basis, it is quite possible to start the revival of production, but under new brands. The Volga does not have to be a sedan. In the new century, it can be transformed into a liftback or a full-size SUV. We also note that SAIC has an electric car, which is called the “Chinese Tesla”. The Pobeda brand will look good on him, right?

Indian Tata Motors and Iranian Iran Khodro can have their say. They also have quite a wide range of models, so there is someone to revive the Soviet car industry. Perhaps in 3-4 years we will completely forget about Europeans and prefer our electric Pobeda over Mercedes. Which, as they say, the devil isn’t kidding…

SAIC founded Zhiji Auto, an electric car company. Let’s assume that such an “electric train” will appear in Russia under one of the well-known Soviet brands.
