Excavators of the EK series can be called timeless classics: wheeled vehicles EK-14 and EK-18 have always been appreciated by Russian (and not only) public utilities. And now the Tver excavator plant has decided to revive the production of such equipment, but before that, the series of models of the 1996 model has undergone major modernization.
Now EK-14 and EK-18 with a weight of 14 and 17 tons respectively will be called E145W and E185W. These are completely “import-substituted” machines, which have only an independent heating and a central lubrication system of foreign components.
The excavators are powered by a D-245 tractor diesel engine with a power output of only 105 hp. met., equipped with a mechanical injection pump. Therefore, the maximum speed of the revived “ekashki” is only 20 km / h. However, it can be transported at a speed of 45 km/h on a rigid towbar.
However, other features are much more important: the digging depth is 7 meters and the duty cycle is 18 seconds. Bucket capacity can be selected by the customer: 0.65, 0.8 or 1.0 cubic meters.
By the way, do not be surprised that the abbreviation UMG is on the arrow – it means “United Machine-Building Group”, which now owns the TVEKS plant.
By the way, the production company owns the Ural car plant. It turned out to be one of the few Russian companies to benefit from Western sanctions before. The AvtoVzglyad portal details how the sanctions pressure affected the automaker’s operations.
