As you know, Renault Duster crossovers were produced in the former Reanult factory, which is now called Moskvich. At the same time, AVTOVAZ was given the right to take the model for itself, that is, to assemble the car in its own facilities. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out whether the auto giant plans to complement the line of LADA models through the development of the Duster.

Renault is not against Duster being produced under the LADA brand. However, as noted by the head of the auto giant Maxim Sokolov, no fundamental decision has been made on the launch of production, as the French will have to pay royalties in return. And taking into account these deductions, the production of a crossover for the Russian side may turn out to be unprofitable.

– From the point of view of the need to pay royalties, which will practically take away our entire margin, this is almost empty work from the point of view of the AVTOVAZ business model, – said the president of the “Russian brand No. 1 “.

In addition, as Mr. Sokolov clarified, the design of the model contains a large proportion of imported components, the supply of which is now difficult due to sanction restrictions. Accordingly, the Russians do not have to wait for a quick “comeback” of the popular SUV.

“Due to the relatively low localization and high proportion of components falling on the sanctions lists, resuming the release of the model is quite risky,” the manager outlined the outlook for the crossover.

So fans of the captain’s landing and high ground clearance will now have to turn their attention to the 2022 model year LADA Niva Legend Classic, whose production was recently launched by LADA. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” provides details.
