Cooler than Liebherr: the first biturbo engine for tractors was made in Russia

The Tutaev Motor Plant, commissioned by the Belarusian agricultural machinery manufacturer Gomselmash, has developed a new generation of tractor engines. The development, which is hidden under the index 8807.10, is primarily focused on the flagship forage harvester KVK-8060.

According to the developers, the 8807.10 engine with a volume of 18.47 liters produces 653 forces. To achieve such indicators, the engine had to be equipped with two turbochargers at once! In addition, the design features of the novelty include an electronic control system and an original balance scheme for the crankshaft.

In May, the harvester, equipped with a promising V-shaped “eight”, passed factory tests on the bench. And a few weeks ago, the most important stage of the tests began: the real work in the field of a large agro-industrial enterprise from Belarus.

According to combines, the new development by TMZ engineers in terms of fuel consumption and power output is not inferior to the Liebherr brand unit, which the best Gomselmash combines were previously equipped. It remains only to evaluate the reliability of new items.

We add that the Tutaevsky Motor Plant earlier began production of a modernized tractor engine for the Kirovets equipment. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out how the latest generation of diesel differs from the previous one.
