When automakers from pro-American countries said goodbye to Russia one by one as a result of sanctions, it seemed that in the end we would be left with domestic cars and “Chinese”. Now there is a real chance for diversity: the authorities allowed the importation of cars from abroad to legal persons on the basis of a simplified scheme – ie without a vehicle type approval (OTTS).
The Government of the Russian Federation has published another decree regulating the issue of parallel imports. It included, among other things, an extremely curious detail: the definition of a “single vehicle”. It is understood as a wheeled vehicle imported into the country by an individual entrepreneur or legal entity. And most importantly, such cars no longer need OTTS.
Likewise, like private traders, “yuriki” and “IPeshniks” should henceforth receive the Certificate of Safety of a Vehicle Design (SBKTS). And it’s many times easier to do than issue an OTTS – just contact an accredited laboratory, of which there are quite a few in the country, especially in the Far East.
In other words, if previous legal entities had to build complex schemes, look for “dummy” persons and register imported cars for them, which greatly limited the volume of deliveries, now they are completely free to supply cars themselves. So, probably in the near future a variety of cars, including exotic ones, will appear in Russia. That’s true, and they will come with a price tag to match.
