Why the state subsidizes the purchase of Chinese electric vehicles of only one brand?

Since July 14, there have been preferential car loan programs in Russia, which will allow buyers of domestically produced cars to save a lot of money. At the same time, it is curious that LADA, UAZ and GAZ are discounted by 20%, and that the Evolute is a refurbished Chinese electric car, production of which has not even started – a whopping 35%. Why the government gives such preferences to one company, experts from the AvtoVzglyad portal explain.

Inspired by the experience of foreign countries, where electric vehicles occupy a significant part of the car market, the Russian government also decided to switch citizens to electric trains. Even though our country is objectively not yet ready for “green” transport: the infrastructure is insufficiently developed, there is nowhere to maintain “battery-powered” cars. Let’s also add to this fierce climatic features and long distances … In general, the idea is extremely controversial.

However, grants are already being awarded. And not only for the production of electric vehicles for those car manufacturers who have signed a special investment contract (SPIC), but also for the purchase. True, so far only for a single brand Evolute – as dubious as the idea of mass electrification of transport in Russia in principle.

Judge for yourself: Lipetsk Motorinvest plans to assemble slightly modified cars of the “daughter” of the Chinese Dongfeng – that is, the Evolute can be called Russian only conditionally. And it is not entirely clear when exactly the trains will go on the conveyor belt. They promised to establish trials in September, but whether they will be on time is a big question. So why offer huge discounts now?

“This is the first experience of mass production of electric cars in our country, where the Ministry of Industry and Trade is testing the technology before awarding subsidies, different preferences, both to the manufacturer itself and to customers. And this is an invaluable experience, because all this was supposed to happen a long time ago, but there was no subject to practice on, – said, speaking at the online conference of the AvtoVzglyad portal, an observer of the Drom portal Sergey Tsyganov.

Simply put, a solid discount on a Russian-Chinese electric car just entering production is an experiment. Another question is that the budget of the preferential car loan program is not rubber: and by the time the first Evolute reaches the showroom, there will be no more discounts – practical citizens who have chosen much more real Ladas, UAZs and GAZs will do everything exhaust . So it is not entirely clear what conclusions the Ministry of Industry and Tort will ultimately be able to draw.

However, it is safe to assume that sooner or later other brands specializing in the sale of electric trains will be included in the preferred programs. After all, the authorities have seriously set their sights on electrification, although literally three years ago they considered it completely “irrelevant” for our country.
