Why new Kamaz trucks rust much less

At the KamAZ car plant, the installation of a line is completed, on which the parts will first undergo the procedure of cataphoretic priming, and then – painted with liquid enamel. You guessed it, this makes the front axles, drive shafts, suspension parts and cabin elements much more resistant to corrosion.

First, the parts undergo nine stages of surface treatment, including phosphating. A cataphoretic priming bath then awaits them, followed by a drying phase at temperatures up to 200°C. The next stage is the sorting: part of the components is sent for assembling the units and the other part for painting with liquid enamel.

The automatic spray booth is equipped with equipment for applying two-component paint. No matter how hard the robot works, then every detail goes through the hands of the painter, who will fix all the holes with an electrostatic gun. This operation is followed by drying at 80°C.

The new coating will successfully resist the appearance of rust for two months when the part is in constant salt mist. Admittedly, the line itself will not be launched until September – commissioning is currently underway.

And further. KamAZ has been able to set up various partnerships in recent years. But now (for known reasons) Western partners have begun to pull out of these joint ventures. Therefore, the car giant decided to “nationalize” Cummins engines and ZF gearboxes.
