In Russia they stopped buying premium cars

Most premium brands have now frozen new car deliveries to Russia and some brands have made a fundamental decision to exit the market. Therefore, those who want to buy a brand new Audi or BMW should rely on old stocks or go to their neighbors – to Armenia, Belarus or Kazakhstan.

According to the Avtostat agency, residents of the Russian Federation became owners of only 1,400 new premium cars in July 2022. At the same time, analysts clarify: the published data is the number of cars registered with the traffic police, that is, the most objective information.

In general, the premium segment falls more than the mass segment. So in July, the premium market fell by 90%, while mass-model sales fell by 73%. The share of Audi, BMW and other ‘solid’ brands has fallen to the historical minimum and stands at 4% of total sales instead of the previous 9-10%.

It is clear that the situation will only get worse. After all, the resumption of deliveries of expensive cars from Europe, Japan and, moreover, the United States is not to be expected. Therefore, car manufacturers from the heavenly realm dream of occupying the empty niche.

In particular, the Chinese brand Khuntsy, which is part of the FAW group, is preparing not only to enter the Russian market, but even to open its own representative office. In addition, the certification of several models of this brand has already started on the NAMI test site.
