The unusual Cybertruck electric pickup truck is suffering from a series of production delays due to supply chain issues. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said that the company’s new car will go into production in mid-2023. However, he emphasized that The base model’s original price of $39,900 will change. At a meeting with shareholders, a billionaire commented it “a lot has changed” since the car was first announced in 2019 without revealing what the Cybertruck’s new cost will be.

The global economic environment with high inflation and supply chain issues justified the cost change. Before informing shareholders that the price of the car needed to be changed, Musk commented: “I need to break some bad news” without fail to emphasize that the Cybertruck “great product” as well as “wonderful car”

Cybertruck should appear on the market in three versions, which are still confirmed. The base model, which hits the market for $39,900, will be a single-engine pickup truck that will accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 6.5 seconds and have a range of 400 km. The second model with two engines will have a range of 480 km, accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 4.5 seconds and will cost $49,900. The $69,900 model is a three-engine pickup truck with a range of over 500 miles.

Tesla car on autopilot hit a motorcyclist in the US

Between July 2021 and May 2022, there were 273 accidents involving Tesla vehicles using Autopilot.

At the moment, it is impossible to say if the Cybertruck will arrive before mid-2023. From history, it seems clear that Tesla’s unusually designed electric pickup is facing a number of challenges to reach the market.

Another issue is the number of bookings the car has, around 650,000 as of June 2020. That figure is certainly higher today, with Electrek estimates that the number of bookings could be as high as 1.5 million units. Depending on how much the final cost of the car changes, Tesla could face a headache due to the number of bookings.
