The times when Russians treated Chinese cars with great distrust and even contempt seem to be over – now many are seriously willing to switch to them. Moreover, a quarter of drivers will prefer a new ‘heavenly’ car, not just a LADA, but even a used ‘European’, as shown by the results of another social survey.

The main question posed to the survey participants was: “Are you ready to consider buying new cars from Chinese brands that are comparable to used European brands?” The majority of respondents – namely 52% – answered in the negative and “voted” for second-hand “Europeans”. However, the ‘heavenly’ cars also had many supporters: no less than 25% of the respondents ‘came out for it’.

The main advantages of new Chinese cars are the budget (57%), the availability of spare parts (50%) and a wide choice of models (33%). At the same time, Russians are most concerned about the low build quality of Chinese-made cars (33%) and finishing materials (28%), as well as possible difficulties in further resale in the secondary market (26%).

As for the “Europeans” used, our fellow citizens appreciate reliability (52%), security (39%), a wide choice on the market (30%) and high liquidity (30%) in them. But in the list of shortcomings, the majority of Russians carry out expensive repairs (59%), the “caustic” cost of the cars themselves (37%) and an opaque ownership history (30%), follows from the results of the Avito Auto study.

Incidentally, the participants in the study were also asked which options play the most and least important role for them. For example, Russians call airbags (60%) essential, air conditioning (52%) or climate control (36%), “winter package” – heated seats, steering wheel, windows (35%). And almost useless – automatic parking system (10%), adaptive headlights (10%), keyless entry (9%), ERA-GLONASS panic button (9%) and seat ventilation (8%).

It should only be added that more than 6,000 motorists from different regions of Russia participated in the survey.
