The GAC M8 minivan, better known in Russia as the GN8, is preparing for the change of the first generation. There are still a few months left until the premiere of new items in the home market – which is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. However, we can see what the second-generation model will look like now.

Photos of the appearance of the GAC M8 / GN8 have been previously published. Thanks to spy photos, we learned that the minivan will change drastically: it will become much more modern, stylish and even more aggressive. If you do not pay attention to the nameplate, you can fully assume that we are not in front of a “Chinese”, but another Lexus creation – the radiator grille is very similar.

Now pictures of the interior have leaked to the web: the quality leaves a lot to be desired, but something can be considered. For example, a ‘tablet’ of digital tidy, a large screen of an infotainment complex, a different steering wheel. The gearbox selector will apparently move to a more familiar place, to the central tunnel. Obviously there will be fewer physical keys – obviously systems will be controlled primarily via multimedia.

Second-row passengers will appreciate the “captain’s” seats, the touch controls of anything and everything, as well as a folding “TV”. It’s a little odd, though, that there’s only one screen for the rear riders – after all, GAC positions the M8/GN8 as a truly premium model. On the other hand, there is a possibility that the number of displays will depend on the implementation.

We’ll find out more about configurations and customizations later, closer to the premiere. What is known so far is that the new M8/GN8 will offer buyers, among other things, hybrid power plants.

Recall that today in Russia the GAC GN8 is offered in a single modification – with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a six-speed “automatic” from Aisin. But there are as many as three trim levels: for the basic Luxury, dealers ask from 3,399,000 rubles, and for the top Premium – from 4,199,000 rubles.

Is the next generation GN8 coming to us? It’s premature to talk about it, but the chances are high. True, fans of minivans will most likely have to wait – GAC brings its new products to us with a long delay.
