Muscovites turn into LADA cars

Kia has long held leadership in the metropolitan new passenger car market. But the crisis has made its own adjustments, and for the first time in 13 years, LADA came to the fore – cars from domestic brands accounted for 13.5% of the total volume of new cars sold in the Mother See.

Last month, motorists in the capital bought 5,078 new cars, which is 74% less than in July 2021. The biggest demand, as mentioned earlier, was the products of AVTOVAZ: 684 people became owners of fresh LADA. The former leader, Kia, settled in second with 580 cars sold. Geely is third (569 units), Hyundai is fourth (487 units) and Chery is fifth (474 units).

Looking at the models, the best result was shown by LADA Vesta, who found 393 owners among Muscovites. The Geely Coolray crossover also sold well, drawing 375 buyers. The top five also included Chery Tiggo 4 (217 units), LADA Granta (179 units) and Haval Jolion (178 units), the Avtostat analysis firm reported.

Well, this is quite understandable. Many car manufacturers have suspended deliveries and the operation of their Russian factories, their warehouses have become empty. And the companies that remain are facing an acute shortage of cars and soaring prices, deterring even non-poor buyers. And since it is unlikely that anything drastic will change in the near future, the trend towards an increase in the share of AVTOVAZ and Chinese brands – especially the latter – will most likely continue.
