Few people know that blockages in the engine intake system haunt absolutely all cars. Even if the driver has always refueled at proven petrol stations and topped up high-quality engine oil. The AvtoVzglyad portal explains why it is so important to clean the intake right now.
Today, many gasoline and diesel engines have advanced intake systems and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves. Over time, in such engines, the intake manifold is overgrown from the inside with a decent layer of oil-soot solution. This happens because soot from the EGR system mixes with oil mist from the crankcase ventilation system. This creates a mixture that clogs the intake.
Diesel engines suffer the most from this. As a result, the “iron horse” begins to choke, the idle speed floats and the EGR system just falls apart. And she is worth a lot of money! Therefore, the intake must be washed every 60,000 kilometers.
What happens next depends on the severity of the problem. If the engine speed doesn’t float very much, we’ll manage with preventive measures. To begin with, we disassemble the air duct and clean the throttle body. Then we take a special aerosol, which, as a rule, is called “Inlet duct cleaner” and flush the system with this compound. This method does not allow you to disassemble the entire intake tract, which saves time and money.
If the problem is serious, then it is worth blowing the collector with air so that when removing it, dirt and dust does not get in, and only then proceed to disassembly. We remove the accelerator, turn off the pipes, wires and sensors and then disassemble the whole thing. If there is dirt – as in the top photo, we urgently place the parts in a solution of white spirit or its equivalent. Then we wait about an hour for the dirt to dissolve. Then we dry the parts and proceed with the assembly.
Of course, there are many motorcycle models, and each has its own nuances. However, these basic rules allow you not to spend money on a visit to the service, but to carry out the procedure yourself, in the garage or in the country. This extends the life of the engine and the expensive EGR valve and even saves you money.
