Everything drivers need to know about the first section of the M12 Moscow-Kazan highway
To the delight of the inhabitants of the Moscow region and all those who from time to time stand still in “crimson” traffic jams on the M7 Volga highway in the Noginsk region, the state-owned company Avtodor has completed the first section of the M12 Moscow- Kazan inaugurated highway. What is important for motorists who plan to use this highway to know, the AvtoVzglyad portal details in the video review.

Construction of the M12 Moscow-Kazan highway, which will become part of the Europe-West China International Transport Corridor, began less than two years ago. And now the first section of the high-speed road is open: a 23-kilometer stretch connecting the Central Ring Road and the Orekhovo-Zueva Bypass (Great Concrete Road). Thanks to him, the driver can save about half an hour – and in whichever direction he is driving.

And all because, unlike the congested M7 Volga highway, the M12 has six lanes, a maximum speed limit of 110 km / h, the absence of zebra crossings, traffic lights, settlements, at-grade intersections with other roads. And this pleasure will cost only 89 rubles for those who drive a passenger car of the first category.

There are no usual toll booths on the M12 motorway – with barriers, terminals and operators. Instead, there’s the innovative Free Flow system, which automatically calculates the drivers using sensors and cameras installed on U-shaped frames. There is no need to stop or slow down: as the experience of the Central Ring shows, the system accurately recognizes transponders, license plates and vehicle dimensions even at maximum speed.

It is important to remember that Free Stream offers two payment methods. If the driver does not have a transponder, the debt is “registered” on the car’s license plate and must be paid off within five days of the journey. Didn’t have time? A decision is made on an administrative offense (1,500 rubles for a passenger car and 5,000 for a truck). But if the user pays the rate within 20 days, this penalty will lapse.

And continuing on the topic of “money”, we will share one life hack: you can save money on trips along the M12 – for this you need only a T-pass transponder (Avtodor brand device). We personalize it, connect to the loyalty program, drive on toll roads (M11 “Neva”, M4 “Don”, M3 “Ukraine”, M1 “Belarus”, M12 Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod – Kazan, Central Ring Road), collect points and exchange them for monthly discounts (from 3 to 15%).

What else can M12 Moscow-Kazan drivers please? For example, multifunctional service zones (MFZ) of a new type, the development stages of which are recorded directly on the highway during construction. These are huge areas that combine gas stations, service buildings with restaurants and shops, specially designated areas for training, dog walking and outdoor recreation, tourist centers, electric vehicle charging stations, and so on.

It is remarkable that the draft MFZ pays special attention to safety. The main principle of the new service areas is “First rest, then refuel”. That is, first the driver gets to the parking lot, from which he can go to restaurants, shops and other places of recreation, and only after that – to the gas station. In addition, the MFZ ensures the separation of traffic flows: cars, trucks, buses and campers have their own parking space: vehicles do not hinder each other or passengers.

Of course, there are also emergency commissioners on the M12 24 hours a day – technical specialists who are on hand at all times to provide any technical assistance possible, free of charge, should anything happen on the road. You can call them, as on other paid routes, by dialing *2323.

Well, in more detail about all the nuances of the operation of the new highway – in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal.
