The facility could be put into operation before 2024 if the project is approved.
The Japanese brand intends to produce motorcycles in three categories – mopeds, scooters and street bikes. In the first, the maximum speed will be up to 25 km / h. Scooters can reach speeds up to 50 km/h. Finally, on the streets it will exceed 50 km/h, but without a definite maximum. Electric bikes for kids are also in Honda’s plans, as are pedal-powered e-bikes.
By releasing new models, Honda aims to become the world leader in the production of electric motorcycles. They are expected to account for 5% of total sales by 2026, equivalent to one million units. When expanding to 2030, the target is to sell 3.5 million electric motorcycles, which is 15%. Overall, Honda claims that two-thirds of its 30 million customers are in the motorcycle market.
Also, according to Honda, 90% of motorcycle sales are in the moped and scooter categories. China is the main sales market and will receive five new models in these categories by 2024. In addition to China, Japan, Europe and other Asian countries will also receive releases.

Battery standardization
The production of new electric models is part of Honda’s modernization process. To this end, they are working to standardize batteries and improve charging infrastructure. The idea is that electric motorcycles will generally use the same type of batteries as shared network owners.
There are four giants in Japan – Honda, Suziki, kawasaki as well as Yamaha made a deal to standardize their bikes. In this way, the owner of a Honda motorcycle will be able to stop at the exchange station and change his battery, for example, with a Kawasaki battery.
This arrangement of shared batteries already exists in Brazil, specifically in São Paulo, where Voltz has set up several exchange stations for iFood couriers and other users. All over the world, manufacturers are rushing to increase the supply of electric models. Regions such as the European Union and the UK will ban the sale of internal combustion engine vehicles from 2035.
