It seems that Moskvich, Motorinvest and other automakers that rely on electric vehicles will have to make room. After all, the cooperation of the Belarusian BelGee plant, which now produces Geely cars, with the domestic AvtoVAZ can also enter the dubious “green” game. And it would have an undeniable advantage: independence from foreign suppliers.
General Director Gennady Svidersky of BelGee, who took part in the discussions on the prospects for electric transport at the Belarus Energy Congress, made an extremely curious statement. He said the company is studying the possibility of making a domestic car and is already negotiating with potential partners. Among them are Chinese companies and AVTOVAZ.
– The idea is to find a promising platform for an electric car and take advantage of the developments in components located at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (National Academy of Sciences of Belarus – ed. note). We will also use modern technological processes for the production of a car, which are available at the BelGee factory,” Belta quoted Mr. Svidersky as saying.
Moreover, he noted that this project could become “recovery and mutually beneficial” regardless of sanctions from the West or the decisions of the Chinese partners. And everything would be fine, but how do the Belarusians want to achieve this? After all, it is extremely difficult to make a truly national car – be it with an electric motor or an internal combustion engine. And why, the portal “AvtoVzglyad” explained here.
