Unsystematic adjustment of traffic rules, ill-considered “nationalization” of car factories and devastating tariffs on “scarves”: the results of the week

While the Russian authorities are changing the traffic rules and ‘nationalizing’ car factories previously owned by foreign companies, the road builders are announcing tariffs for the unbuilt road and the Chinese continue to flood our country with dubious novelties. Find out more about the key automotive events of the coming week in the AvtoVzglyad portal video summary.

Last week the news came out that the government approved changes to the traffic rules – now it has become known exactly when the drivers will “drive” according to the new rules. For example, the definition of means of individual mobility (electric scooters, segways and other monowheels) will be included in the code of road laws from 1 March next year. At the same time, updated signs and markings will appear in the country’s parking lots. But does it all make sense?

Next year, the M-12 Moscow-Kazan mega route should be fully opened – the second part (southern bypass of Vladimir) was put into operation the day before. And although it will take more than a month for the new road to connect Belokamennaya with the capital of Tatarstan, the estimated rates are already known. The most “ruin” will be a fragment near Moscow, around Balashikha.

Roads are good, of course, but what should you drive on? Another carmaker announced – after the concerns of General Motors and Renault – the final withdrawal from Russia: it became quite popular and loved by many Nissan. AVTOVAZ will be engaged in service maintenance of cars of the Japanese brand, which are already “running” around the country. But all of the company’s assets — including a factory and research center in St. Petersburg — will go to NAMI.

There is an assumption that the production of some electric vehicles will also be established. After all, even if the Russians are not in favor of them, the authorities believe in a “green” future and massive electrification of transport in the country. “Battery” cars from Moskvich are about to be put on the conveyor belt, and Motorinvest, which already produces the Russian-Chinese Evolute electric trains, plans to actively increase the volumes.

However, the Russians still have an alternative in the form of domestic LADA and cars from China, which are increasingly in showrooms. So in the outgoing week, several “celestial” launches took place at once. Geely brought a redesigned Tugella crossover to Russia, Exeed brought a new junior LX configuration, and Omoda (another Chery sub-brand) brought its first C5 model.

And more about these and other important events in the car life of the country – in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal, which can be viewed here.
