A bold innovation took place on an unregulated “zebra” on the understudy of Tallinskaya Street. They mounted a cylinder the size of a person on either side of the roadway. Each of them is equipped with a set of lamps that illuminate the markings on the sidewalk and people crossing the road. They turn on automatically at the same time as the rest of the streetlights. Deptrans claims that in this way it increased pedestrian safety in anticipation of the long winter nights.

Note that about 50 meters from the freshly lit crosswalk there is another “zebra”, which is used by an order of magnitude more people.
