According to the results of the second autumn month, slightly more than 43,300 new passenger cars were sold on the Russian market, 63.1% less than a year earlier. And compared to September 2022, car sales were down 2.5%. What kind of cars do Russians buy in the context of a protracted crisis, the AvtoVzglyad portal discovered.

As the experts of the AvtoVzglyad portal predicted, Chinese manufacturers, not slowly but surely, came close to the sales leaders and even threw them off the pedestal. Against the background of a shortage of cars due to the cessation of supply and production, Korean brands sank faster than expected. Their places in the TOP-5 best-selling brands in the Russian market were plotted by Haval and Chery, who are a little more and will shake their fingers at AVTOVAZ. However, judge for yourself.

So, according to the October results, the domestic LADA won the palm with the result of 17,113 cars sold. The share of AVTOVAZ in the market was 39.5%. By the way, that is more than 20 percent more than in the same period of 2021. Well done Volga residents, you can not say anything: the conveyor belts did not stand still for a long time and the prices for the updated models turned out to be very humane.

Following the “Lada” in terms of sales, the Chinese follow. According to Avtostat analysts, Haval sold nearly 4,400 of its crossovers, and Chery – just under 4,000 copies. And only then, with almost half giving in to the players from China, the “Koreans” retreat: Kia with an indicator of 2,738 cars sold and Hyundai, which built 2,720 cars.

As for the models, the products of the Volga Automobile Plant and crafts from the Middle Kingdom turned out to be the most popular with our brother. The absolute frontrunner in sales was the nationwide LADA Granta, which showed an increase of +73.2%! In October, the Russians bought 10,978 units of the VAZ model. Second place went to the Haval Jolion crossover, which sold 3,049 copies – by the way, twice as many as a year ago!

Third place was taken by the LADA Niva Travel SUV with 2229 cars sold. The fourth in a row is the large Chinese SUV Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, which was chosen by 2134 people, and the TOP-5 is again completed by the VAZ LADA Niva Legend. 1926 buyers preferred the timeless Russian SUV.

Finally, it should be added that in the period from January to October a total of 518,011 new passenger cars were sold in Russia, almost 60% less than last year. Experts predict a further decline in the car market, which is likely to bottom out in January 2023.
