Tesla is facing allegations in an incident in China in which one of its vehicles ran over two people in the country and killed them.
Several local Chinese media reports said that two people died and three were injured in the accident.
The Tesla Model Y incident occurred on November 5 and caused a stir in social networks around the world. The Weibo platform in China is one of the main topics covered, the country is the second largest market in which Tesla operates.
This tragedy occurred in Guangdong province, in the south of the country, and according to Jimu News, a motorcyclist and a schoolgirl died in it.
Tesla said last Sunday (14) that it would cooperate with local police in investigating the crash.
🇧🇷The police are currently looking for a third party assessment agency to establish the truth about this incident and we will actively provide any assistance needed.“, the electric car maker told Reuters in a Sunday report, cautioning against believing in “rumors🇧🇷
Jimu News’ findings suggest that a police investigation has yet to determine the cause of the crash. Family members of the 55-year-old driver claim there was a problem with the brake pedal when he was about to park the car in front of the family store. But Tesla says the videos show the car’s brake lights weren’t on, which could mean the driver didn’t act in time and hit the car’s brakes during the incident.
Tesla has had other incidents with cars, in one of them, starting in 2018, the driver had a bug in the autopilot system, and he had a serious accident, resulting in his death. But accidents, mostly caused by autopilot failures, already number more than 250 worldwide.
