Why you should be afraid of cheap cars during black ice
Freezing rain covered Moscow, turning the roads into an obstacle course. Unfortunately, this time the number of accidents will increase many times as there are more used cars and “simplified” vehicles on the road. About where to expect trouble, the portal “AvtoVzglyad” says.

It cannot be said that the erratic weather came as a surprise to the road builders. Major highways were lavishly sprinkled with reagents, so much so that puddles formed on them. Nevertheless, the ice remained in the courtyards and the side streets were very slippery. Under these conditions, the driver should pay attention to those road users who conquer space on budget cars, as they can cause an accident.

Recall that Russian car factories now produce “simplified” versions of models – without ABS and ESP. This decision was made to reduce the reliance of domestic manufacturers on imported components. But the “simplified” will turn into an avalanche of accidents, especially in bad weather.

The fact is that in an “iron horse” without an anti-lock braking system, the wheels are blocked during sudden braking, that is, the driver cannot steer to the side, preventing a collision. To do this, you need to release the pedal, but in a critical situation few will be able to make this move.

The rise in spare parts prices and the shortage of some consumables also contribute. Car owners began to save on service, purchase high-quality tires, which also affects safety. Therefore, the systems on cheap foreign cars with ABS with ESP may simply not work due to a malfunction. And the properties of the “rubber” are insufficient to ensure stability in ice.

It is worth paying attention to cars that, as it were, “fall over” on their backs. This suggests that they have “tired” shock absorbers. Such a car on a slippery road is simply dangerous, because with a sharp maneuver it can “unwind” along the roadway. And even a usable ESP doesn’t help.

Finally, the anti-lock braking system itself is not yet a panacea for difficult situations. After all, it does not shorten the braking distance. The task of electronics is to ensure that the wheels do not lock, that is, to maintain steerability so that the steering wheel can bring its “iron horse” to the side of the road. On a slippery road, it is therefore useful to be able to predict the situation in order to anticipate difficult moments in advance. This will save you an accident.
