When inspecting a used car, it is important to immediately understand if there are serious problems, for example in the chassis. After all, this saves time and not money. But few people know that it is realistic to make a fairly accurate diagnosis, even without special equipment and an elevator, which experienced overbiddens use. Many old-fashioned methods still work perfectly and should therefore be used during the initial examination of the vending “beushki”. Malfunctions are also determined by external signs – for example, traces of oil or strong condensation may be visible on the rack housing.

Then we take the roof rails – if any – and swing the car to the side. Do you have punches? This will tell you about the wear on the bushings and stabilizer mounts. However, the upper shock absorber mounts also make themselves felt.

It is also easy to assess how much the springs or feathers have sagged. If an ordinary passenger car is not adjusted, 3-4 fingers should fit between the edge of the arch and the wheel. Otherwise, most likely, the elastic elements are “tired”. By the way, if you look into the wheel arch, you will also see that one of the coils of the spring has broken off.

Then you can use a regular jack to hang each wheel out consistently – this is done to diagnose the wheel bearings. The hanging “shoe” must rotate freely: jamming or strange buzzing is not allowed.

Then hold the tire with both hands and shake the wheel. If you feel play, the problem is in the wheel bearing or ball joint. By the way, both spare parts are quite expensive, and the work costs a pretty penny. Finally, inspect the tires: if they show uneven wear, it may indicate that silent blocks need to be replaced.

All these simple tricks allow you to superficially assess the condition of the “hodovka” and decide on the appropriateness of a full-fledged diagnosis. If the results of your own “tests” suit you, feel free to go to the service for a more detailed study of the car.
