The seventh generation of the Toyota Camry – a VX50 sedan – is still in high demand in the aftermarket. It is believed that the “fifty” is almost eternal and never breaks, but in reality, of course, this is not so. The car has a number of serious flaws, which the AvtoVzglyad portal talks about.

Let’s briefly recall that the Toyota Camry in the back of the VX50 was produced from 2011 to 2018. During this time there have been two updates. Yes, the Camry is a very liquid car that slowly loses value, but it also has many weaknesses.

The main “sores” of the body is rust on the hood and trunk lid. It originates under the chrome strips at their mounting points and then spreads to the body panels. Blisters of paint are often noticed in the opening of the utility block. During the warranty period, dealers repainted these places, and now all the work falls on the shoulders of the buyer. Given the rising prices for paints and varnishes, you will have to pay a lot.

But that is not everything. Pre-styling machines are characterized by poor anti-corrosion protection. A small chip is enough for the metal to break down after a while. So it is better to give preference to restyled ones – they are more resistant to our “salty” roads.

It is worth paying attention to xenon optics: it does not differ in durability, and now lamps are not cheap at all. The Japanese made several improvements several times, but could not solve the problem.

As for the engines, they are generally reliable, but there are still some “styles”. For example, a 2 liter unit of the 6AR family is extremely sensitive to fuel quality. And although Toyota allows the use of 92e gasoline, if you pour it into the tank all the time, the nozzles will clog and other problems will appear. Owners also complain that direct injection engines suffer from deposits on the intake valves.

The 2.5 liter “heart” has a distributed injection, so these problems do not threaten him. But the phase shifters are very noisy on this engine, which is why you need to regularly replace the clutch on the intake camshaft. Well, the common “disease” – the flow of crankshaft oil seals – managed to defeat the manufacturer only in 2016.

Finally, let’s discuss the suspension issues. Here you can notice the rapid “acidification” of the guides of the rear calipers. In addition, the fan behind the front panel sometimes whistles during the freezing season. This is a major defect, which can only be corrected by replacing the entire unit.
