But since then, the percentage of localization of the Aurus car has been a state secret, since, depending on the methods and circumstances of the calculation, it does not exceed 40% to 60%.

Nine years have passed, billions and the career of NAMI director Sergei Gaisin has ended. Recently, the institute was transferred to the management of KamAZ’s chief technologist Fedor Nazarov. And by the time he arrived, the strategy for the development of the automotive industry until 2035 suddenly came to life for half a trillion rubles. She promises the country the long-awaited: one engine, one automatic transmission, ABS and ESP, an airbag and a seatbelt. Those that cost 2.5 billion euros have long been developed by the US. Now they will be recreated, but within the modest limits of technological sovereignty.

By the way, before NAMI, an automatic transmission was made for Moskvich-401, then it was made for Moskvich-412, and a variator was also made for M-2141. AKP was invented for the Zhiguli and twice for the Volga. Now it’s time to do a few more. But not on the level of factory costs, but on the scale of state strategy. It is logical that the arrival of a new director of NAMI – the main center of Russian automotive inventions – will be accompanied by new credits. But there is a feeling that with previous developments everything ended not so much with a limousine as with garbage.

Judging by the fact that the sudden strategy is weakly focused on components and assemblies and is mainly focused on “creating the production of innovative vehicles – electric and hybrid cars, including hydrogen fuel cell cars, autonomous cars – it will become easier to report , since it will not be possible to present something intelligible and specific. And the planning horizon is measured liberally, expecting that 2035 will not come and there will certainly be no one to ask and no one to ask. And a new engine and automatic transmission will be invented in the next state strategy for the development of the domestic automotive industry …
