What does our brother need? Of course there are no electric cars and all kinds of pony cars that overshadowed the already boring exhibition in LA in the US. Give us crossovers! Let’s actually talk about it.
That’s just official sales, with only rare exceptions the Russians can’t count on. However, no one canceled the parallel import. So let’s go…
The favorite of the Russians – the premium Japanese crossover Lexus RX, which has survived a generation, has become smarter and more beautiful. In terms of the plethora of smart electronics, the widest range of security systems and comfort features, the new RX was expected to be in common with its younger brother NX.
The car can talk to the driver, control its own pressure and what’s going on around it, and electronically unlock the doors and broadcast software directly from the Internet to a huge multimedia tablet. Suspensions and bodywork are brand new, with a choice of three engines. Among them: a 2.4-liter turbo engine with 275 “stallions”, as well as a pair of hybrids with a capacity of 304 and 372 forces. The drive is complete.
The Koreans completely rethought the stern of the car by installing a new trunk lid and turn signals, combined with a single diode strip. At the front there is a larger grille and headlights with revised graphics, and LED inserts in the form of daytime running lights complete the picture.
The interior has been transformed by combining large monitors into one display, and the usual automatic gear selector has also been given a stylish rotating washer. A separate fetish was the version of the X-Line with black trim elements and special “rollers”. But under the hood – no sensations. However, we don’t need them.
The Japanese have long ceased to supply their cars to us, but “gray” dealers and other businessmen are happy to help with the purchase of a new “Pilot”, which has become longer, larger and more dynamic. The three-row villain is powered by a mighty four-cam V6 powered by the latest ten-speed automatic transmission.
Other “goodies” include the TrailSport variant, which boasts increased ground clearance, a protective body kit and suspensions reconfigured for off-road driving.
The design has also changed beyond recognition. The model has become bolder, sportier and “light-emitting diode”. Admittedly, skeptics have already accused Honda of the arrogant copy-paste Toyota Highlander. Maybe that’s for the best?
The new compact “American” is designed to become the most budget crossover in the line of the American brand. In the new role, the model that came on the assembly line in South Korea has become much more beautiful and has received an extensive range of useful options.
Meanwhile, the pre-reform version of Trax is quite successfully produced in Uzbekistan, albeit under the name Tracker. It is likely that the refreshed version of the SUV will also receive a local registration and will soon reach Russia via a detour.
By the way, General Motors forbade the Uzbeks to officially supply us with their cars, but no one said anything about “unofficial”. So, soon the crossover will reach those who would like to get a funny car with an engine of about 139 “horses”.
And here is the icing on the cake – the crossover from the Vietnamese brand Vinfast, which will soon be certified in our country. Admittedly, unfortunately no technical details about the new product have been reported yet. It is only known that the design of the model was created by the Italians, and a lot of used parts come from China.
The ‘office’ itself is just over five years old, but in terms of ambitions even more abrupt than the car market mastadons. We were promised that we would literally be bombarded with various crossovers and sedans, but so far none have appeared. However, this is a matter of time. According to the AvtoVzglyad portal’s own data, the brand is currently trying to negotiate with the GAZ Group about a possible localization of production. How they end, we will soon find out.
