An old “jeep” of foreign production is not a luxury, but an urgent need for residents of many regions of the country. And among city fans to get out into nature, off-road vehicles with multi-liter engines are still popular, despite the constant rise in fuel prices. Scheduled maintenance of such an engine may require 6-8 liters of oil. But a five-liter canister of a foreign brand, which until recently was considered “budget”, can now cost 7,000, and 8,000, and 9,000 rubles. That is, the purchase of the necessary amount of the usual engine lubricant requires 8000-15 000 ₽ wild money, from the point of view of a year ago.
And now it is a reality that insists on all sorts of “experiments” to minimize the cost of maintaining t / s. After all, the “spindle” can be bought for no more than 3000 rubles per 10 liters! It is clear that it does not contain any additives that are present in motor oil: it is still an industrial lubricant. But why not at least partially dilute expensive specialty motor oil with cheap spindle oil? Motorists who began their driving career at the end of the last century and independently maintain their Zhiguli, know that the “spindle” was often used to flush the engine to remove the remnants of the spent lubricant.
The motor threshed “idle” for about 10 minutes with a “spindle” filled inside, also known as transformer oil. Then the “rinse” was drained and the unit was filled with a specialized agent. It turns out that spindle oil doesn’t kill the unit at all? And yet is it possible to dilute it with a real motor lubricant by 20-30 percent? Transformer oil is obtained by processing paraffinic acid oil. That is, it is, in fact, a “mineral water”. There are several types of “spindles”, which differ broadly only in their viscosity. They can operate in the temperature range from -35°С to +100°С. Optimal – + 60 ° С. Resistant to short-term heating up to +125°С. But in ICE cylinders, the lubricant works at temperatures above + 200 ° C. In other words, under such conditions, transformer oil will burn out completely after a fairly short time. And it will create a fair amount of soot. This can char the piston rings, cover the electrodes of the candles and foul the catalytic converter. In general, you can dilute normal motor lubricant with a “spindle”. But only if you do not feel sorry for the engine, and the car owner is ready for the overhaul …
