Half-empty electric buses against passenger cars: New ‘separate lines’ are being introduced in Moscow

According to the AvtoVzglyad portal, the Moscow government plans to organize new special public transport lanes on Kozhevnicheskaya and Stationnaya streets, on Lokomotivny proezd, Serebryakova proezd, Golubinskaya street and Likhachev avenue. The changes to the road network will take effect on 24 December. The AvtoVzglyad portal finds out what consequences this has for ordinary car owners.

From December 24, there will be less space for personal vehicles on Moscow’s roads, as special lanes for public transport will appear on five sections of the road network. As a result, according to the logistics specialists at Deptrans, buses can overcome these segments a few minutes faster. Admittedly, this will inevitably increase traffic problems for private traders. But who cares? However, a dilemma arises here, which to prefer: a half-empty, environmentally friendly electric bus to travel the route for 120 seconds longer or a passenger car with an internal combustion engine to spend a long time in traffic jams and the ecology of the metropolis on the way?

By the way, according to statistics, the organization of such a lane reduces the number of accidents involving urban transport on it by 30-40%. The AvtoVzglyad portal is curious, but are there statistics on how much, in this case, the number of accidents involving citizens’ cars increases due to the reduction in the number of lanes available to them? However, this question is purely rhetorical. The authorities, apparently, are doing everything they can to squeeze ordinary motorists out of Moscow. For reference: now there are already 127 “allocations” in the city with a total length of 434 km.
