Who is who today in the Russian motor oil market
The situation with motor oils is now difficult. Many well-known brands left our country or suspended official deliveries. Accordingly, there is a risk of encountering a counterfeit. Nevertheless, large petrochemical producers from different countries are still entering the Russian market. More and more new names are flashing, such as the German Bizol, or, for example, the Turkish Opet and Lubex, as well as other names for car oils, which many car owners did not even know a year ago. The AvtoVzglyad portal will try to find out how much you can trust this or that manufacturer.

With motor oils, we repeat, the situation is really difficult. Sanctions, logistical problems and the fact that there is in fact no own production of additives in our country have had an impact. And without them, modern lubricants are just “slurry”.

Prior to the well-known events, major additive manufacturers such as Lubrizol, Infineum, Oronite Company LLC and TCM Afton Chemical collaborated with domestic companies. They account for 90% of global sales of these key lubricant components. But all companies are American and British, which is why when the crisis broke out, they chose to curtail their activities. Anyway, officially. Add here the already mentioned exodus of well-known brands, and we get the result – an acute shortage of high-quality high-tech motor oils has appeared on the Russian market. After all, there are no fewer cars and they need regular maintenance. A situation has arisen when the car owner, fearing a fake, does not take the oils to which he is accustomed, and also doubts new products that enter the market in different ways.

Of course, any vacuum will eventually be filled. Lesser-known brands from around the world have already come to the country, seeking to increase sales of their products. A large number of manufacturers from various countries were presented at the MIMS Automobility Moscow 2022 autumn fair.

And here it is important for an ordinary motorist to find out what this or that manufacturer is and where it comes from.

For example, cooperation is now actively developing in various areas with a country such as Turkey. For a long time, deliveries of car parts, batteries have been going on, and now even motor oils from this country have appeared in car dealerships. But can they be trusted?

First you need to understand what is the auto industry of the state in which Russians are used to rest in general, and at the same time the petrochemical complex. And here everything is very interesting. It turns out that Turkey has a fairly powerful automotive industry, the foundations of which were laid in the 1950s.

For example, the American company Ford has long and firmly established itself in Turkey by establishing a joint venture between Ford Otosan and Koç Holding. The company produces the full line of Ford vehicles and their components. The partnership also affected the production of motor oils, where Ford worked with a fuels and lubricants manufacturer in Turkey, Opet Petrolcülük, which is part of the same Koç holding company,

Currently, the company has more than 1,600 service stations across the country. And its division, Opet Lubricants, produces and sells its automotive chemicals all over the world, and now, in particular, deliveries of motor oils from this company also go to Russia.

Today, Turkey is one of the world’s largest car manufacturers. A serious range of commercial vehicles is assembled in local car factories – from vans to long-haul tractors from the same Ford, as well as from Mercedes-Benz and MAN. At the same time, there are not very many own developments. Many manufacturers of passenger cars also have assembly plants in this country: Toyota, FIAT, Hyundai, Renault, Opel, Honda, etc. By the way, Turkish Honda Civics were once delivered to Russia.

Obviously, such an armada of equipment requires a lot of motor oils, lubricants and other automotive chemicals, and of high quality and with tolerances of manufactured car brands. In addition, there are many engines of various designs under the hood of cars and trucks. From atmospheric units to supercharged small engines, which are very sensitive to the quality of oils.

And the Turks were able to solve this problem. Today, the republic’s chemical industry has about 4,000 enterprises. Belgium is one of those companies. Founded in 1953, the company is a very serious player in the industrial lubricants segment and also works closely with major manufacturers of various industrial equipment and automotive equipment in Turkey. It is one of the main Turkish exporters of various lubricants. Today, Belgin supplies its products to more than 50 countries and 5 continents.

It is important that Belgin is a full member of various international industry-specific institutions such as ELGI (European Grease Institute), UEIL (Union of the European Lubricant Industry) and ATIEL (Technical Association of the European Lubricant Industry). The company already produces and supplies Lubex high-tech motor oils to Russia. All products meet internationally recognized quality standards.

In conclusion, it should be noted that all Turkish companies have no problems with the supply of various additives to their production facilities. After all, no one imposed sanctions on them, and she did not forbid working in Russia. Therefore, you can be sure of the quality of the oils supplied to our market. Yes, and you should not be afraid of fakes. Brands in our country are new, so there is simply no point in counterfeiting them.
