How to get rid of white spots under car side mirrors
In many cars, over time, cloudiness and then whitish streaks begin to appear under the side mirrors. This annoys many drivers, because the “iron horse” loses its presentation. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells about the causes of the defect and how to locate it.

Owners of various cars often write about such a nuisance on the forums: Opel Astra, Mazda 6, Mazda CX-5, Ford Kuga. The list goes on. The main difficulty is that if you start the problem, it is almost impossible to get rid of the whitish streaks. They literally “eat” into the paint and spoil the appearance of the car. This does not affect the speed, so many car owners often ignore even minor clouding of the paint. When selling, however, this can be a disservice, because seeing body defects, a potential buyer has the right to demand a discount.

What Causes White Streaks? This is the oxidation of aluminum or silumin, which is used in the manufacture of transom mounts. What exactly happens under the plastic trim over time can be clearly seen in the example of the Ford Kuga crossover. Look at the photo – loose plaque is literally everywhere. The usual blowing out of the drain holes after washing, of course, does not solve this. Drastic measures are needed and they are the same for all machines.

It is necessary to disassemble both mirrors, carefully clean the rust and oxidation, and then take a spray of zinc and treat all the “sore” places. Ideally, it is also better to paint metal surfaces.

If the car is relatively new and the problem has not yet manifested itself acutely, we still recommend removing the mirrors and greasing the fasteners with wax. This will significantly slow down the destructive process. By the way, official dealers often used a similar method to fix defects under warranty. This was the case, for example, with some Mazda CX-5 crossovers.

Another, more radical and more expensive option is to completely replace the side mirror. For example for restyling. There may already be no details of silumin, that is, there is nothing to oxidize.
