Will the traffic police deprive the “rights” for installing tuned brake lights on a car
Improving certain characteristics of your passenger car cannot always go unpunished for the car owner. And therefore, before modernization, everything should be carefully considered, while refreshing the memory of the traffic rules and reviewing the Code of Administrative Offenses. What kind of modernization? For example, a car brake light.

Many car owners are not satisfied with the brightness and visibility of standard brake lights. This is especially true for those cars where halogen lamps are used as light sources. Auto parts stores now sell a variety of LED bulbs for every taste and color. They shine much brighter than “halogens” of the same power rating. Therefore, motorists have a reasonable desire to replace the ordinary lamps in the rear “stoppers” with brighter LEDs – to make their car more noticeable when braking.

Some car owners go even further. To attract extra attention from others to their “swallow”, they also adjust the operation of the brake light. A simple microcircuit is introduced into its electrical circuit. Thanks to her, when the brake pedal is pressed, the “traffic lights” do not burn constantly, but flash continuously. It is simply impossible not to notice them from the outside. Remember that in many foreign cars, in the event of an emergency deceleration, the “emergency gang” is automatically turned on – to warn of the possible danger of drivers behind the car. Here’s something similar, but with the use of brake lights, and motorists try to portray privately, so to speak.

Meanwhile, such changes, albeit with good intentions, are illegal and are condemned by the traffic police. After all, the annex to the SDA on the authorization of vehicles for use prohibits driving a car if “the number, type, colour, location and operation of external lighting devices do not meet the requirements for the design of the vehicle.” As we understand, brighter “tuning” LEDs or the blinking of a brake light cannot coincide with the parameters of the factory design.

Earlier, if a traffic police inspector found something similar “LED” in the front of the car, he drew up a protocol implying the deprivation of “rights” (according to part 3 of article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Now, if “homemade” LEDs are installed instead of “halogens” in the headlights, the driver will not face deprivation of the VU – thanks to the decision of the Supreme Court.

The same applies to unauthorized changes to brake lights. For such an offense, a patrol officer can impose a fine of up to 500 rubles. True, at the same time he will also demand from the driver to fix the “malfunction”. And in case of non-compliance with it, the car owner will be held liable under another article – under 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. In accordance with this, a motorist can be detained for 15 days for non-compliance with the legal requirements of a police officer. But “rights” will not be taken away from him.
