Iranian automaker Saipa has shown photos of its new front-wheel drive crossover called Atlas. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out what kind of car it really is.

Technically, the Saipa Atlas is a redesigned Saipa Quick. That is, it is based on the Kia Pride “trolley” of the late 1980s. The outdated technical base is emphasized by the small 14-inch wheels of the Iranian quasi-crossover. According to Carscoops, the start of sales of Saipa Atlas in the “home market” will take place in 2023. And given the Iranians’ repeated statements about their desire to compete for Russian buyers, chances are Atlas can be seen in the showrooms of domestic car dealers.

Judging by the published photos, Atlas differs from Quick in appearance only in minor changes to the “muzzle” and stern. The crossover in particular received new headlights, a different shape of the hood and bumpers and a different grille pattern. In general, Saipa Atlas is more correctly called a restyled version of the Quick model. From this point of view, a fully anticipated decision was to equip the novelty with the same engine – a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine with a capacity of 88 horsepower. Of. The car’s drive is front-only, with a five-speed manual or CVT gearbox. It is reported that Atlas and Quick will initially exist in parallel on the market, but after that, Quick will be withdrawn from sale.

The prices of Saipa Atlas, even in Iran, have not yet been announced. Quick is known to be sold there for around $10,000 (in terms of local rials) for a premium package. It can be assumed that the new Iranian crossover will not differ much from its “source” in terms of cost. But the Russian price list of “Atlas” – due to the peculiarities of our customs legislation – may well turn out to be more than one and a half times higher than in its homeland.
