How to Control Your Home with LG Artificial Intelligence

Today we live in an era when many people are looking for smart products and gadgets that follow the concept of the Internet of Things, a technology that allows household appliances to communicate with each other and exchange information, generate statistics and better understand our lives. routine. And it is in this offering of connectivity and greater comfort in everyday life that in the video above I talk about LG’s ThinQ.

ThinQ is one of the best smart home services. I myself have already praised this platform several times in other videos here on the channel and named it the winner in the Connected Home Hub category in the TV system comparison. Here in Brazil, if I’m not mistaken, LG was the first brand to introduce AI resources with ThinQ. More than 150 branded devices are already connected to the platform, regardless of the product line.

Benefits of LG ThinQ

With LG ThinQ, you can control other smart devices in your home with voice commands through your soundbar or TV. So if you’re already snug on the couch, you don’t need to pick up your phone or remote control to do anything, just give voice commands to turn off the lights, change the air temperature, and so on. For example, LG TVs and soundbars are compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Airplay (all via ThinQ) to suit the needs of any audience. Thus, they receive voice commands to activate smart devices connected to virtual assistants such as Alexa.

The ThinQ interface is connected to the Internet of Things, which provides comfort and practicality for automating everyday tasks by integrating devices such as refrigerators, air conditioners and TVs so that they work in harmony depending on a person’s lifestyle. With this connected home hub, you can, for example, come home from work on a very hot day and already ask your home air conditioner to turn on the cooling of the room. Or being at the market, shopping and already adjusting the temperature in the refrigerator before arriving. Or even ask the robotic vacuum cleaner to do that quick house cleaning before you come to visit!

There are several options, and just as you can turn some devices on remotely, you can also turn them off. This gives you the freedom to check if your TV is turned on at home or if you forgot to turn on the air conditioner, for example. In addition to showing the power consumption of electronics – and this is important. TVs act as a great control panel for this entire ecosystem, as well as providing voice access to shopping lists, weather forecasts, traffic news, and more.

How to use LG ThinQ

We started by downloading the LG ThinQ app, which is available for Android and iOS devices. Once installed, you need to accept some permissions, including using device location information and call settings. With these permissions, you can make the most of the app’s usability and control your home or office remotely.

The application also needs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which are automatically turned on when the interface is opened. You can also customize these settings. In the app, you need to sign in, which can be with a Gmail, Facebook, or LG account. You can also select the ThinQ language in this initial login part.

After logging into the app, you will see this home screen with a very intuitive interface. Here at the top we have control buttons, a weather forecast, and a place to add connected devices from your chosen environment.

You can add anything you want to it: TVs, soundbars, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, stylers, ovens and vacuum cleaners and so on. Some household appliances can only be turned on when they are not in the middle of a cycle – for example, washing machines. Then, after selecting products and passing the verification stage, the connected home appliances will appear on the main screen.

You can create multiple environments to manage, and you can also call on other people to give commands to a particular environment. Through the app, you can check the status of each device and manage it remotely. Here’s the story: imagine you’re stuck in a traffic jam, dying to get home and watch TV, and the house is ready for your arrival with LG ThinQ. Put on the fridge to freeze drinks, air to freshen things up, and turn on the TVs and soundbars to get everything ready.

The app is very complete and shows everything from the status of each device to how much time is left for a function or cycle to complete, what is the power consumption and so on. And you don’t have to use it only through your smartphone. You can install the app on your SmartTV and manage everything from there. In addition, you also have the function of mirroring content on the TV.

ThinQ also identifies potential problems in home appliances with Smart Diagnosis technology. The problems detected by this smart diagnostics are only those that can be solved by the user. They are identified by the sounds the machine makes. Of course, you won’t be able to do without specialized help when you need it, but at least the app already helps you know the status of every appliance in your home.

As an AI application, LG ThinQ can learn user patterns and preferences to improve user experience. It understands how you use connected devices in your home and offers personalized recommendations. You can even create default procedures for devices.

For example, from Monday to Friday, I want the office air conditioner to run from 10:00 to 17:00 at 22ºC. And this also applies to other devices, such as a robot vacuum cleaner, a refrigerator, etc.

ThinQ-connected devices can also detect when you’re running out of products like water filters or laundry detergent and automatically reorder them, like LG or Amazon online stores. In this way, it determines the needs of the device, notifies you through the application and already offers products for purchase.

Because ThinQ is integrated with assistants, you can use voice commands to control your devices. It is important that you activate the ThinQ skill in the Alexa app in order to be able to give voice commands. This also includes Google Assistant as both are LG ThinQ partners.

It is important to remember that all of this requires an Internet connection, and both the product and the cell phone must be connected to the network. So you can only control devices remotely if everything inside your connected home hub… is connected. That is why, in the case of a TV, it can be set up and turned off only at a distance. You can’t turn it on remotely because if it’s off, it doesn’t have an internet connection.

With more and more people looking for a connected home, LG ThinQ is a great platform to control all your electronics and home appliances. It centralizes all commands in one place, connects all products, shows power consumption, detects the malfunction of any device, suggests setting up a procedure, all with an intuitive and very easy to use design.
