Russia starts production of FAW cars, and not at the Nissan plant

Currently, the possibility of organizing the assembly production of FAW cars is being considered in the city of Engels near Saratov. The agreement with the investment partner has already been signed. What cars will be registered on the Russian conveyor, the AvtoVzglyad portal found out.

The governor of the Saratov region Roman Busargin announced the signing of an investor agreement represented by the capital company AlfaTech in cooperation with the Chinese automaker FAW.

The venture will create nearly 300 jobs and production is scheduled to start in the second half of 2023. In addition, at least 2,000 cars should roll off the assembly line by early 2024.

We are talking about FAW electric cars, designed for use in car sharing and taxis. Incidentally, in addition to the machines themselves, charging stations and batteries will also be manufactured on site.

Does our government really believe in the success of electric transport, which is still a utopia for our country? However, we leave the answer to this question outside the parentheses.
