The media environment is so media. From time to time some crazy idea takes her in, which she then cannot get rid of for a long time. For example, at the moment there is an opinion that car manufacturers who have left our country dream of returning. Portal “AutoVzglyad” found out if this is really so.

If rumors were spread through the minds of toothless old women, as in Vysotsky’s song, it would be half the trouble. But their distribution is increasingly carried out by people who are quite respectable and inspire confidence among the masses. Here, let’s say, such a rumor has disappeared – car brands that have fled our country under pressure from their governments are eager, they say, to return.

In particular, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, expressed this idea quite bluntly in his recent interview with RIA Novosti.

– Old partners of “Avtotor” do not show signs of life?

– Serve, they really want to return.

– What’s stopping her?

— The policies of their leaders.

Can they come back when the political pressure eases?

– Yes Yes. In addition, I really hope that this will happen, maybe even sooner, because some manufacturers really want to come back and understand that they are losing a hugely promising market and, on the contrary, an increasing share in the absence of competitors. For them, of course, this is a very serious economic loss of opportunity that has arisen for them. I think they will do everything they can to be first at the start of the return.

What kind of partners are we talking about? At the beginning of March, Avtotor Kaliningrad suspended production of BMW cars, and at the end of September production of Hyundai, Kia and Genesis models was completed. As an explanation, the Western partners got off with very sly references to the geopolitical situation and the break in supply chains.

With all due respect to Mr. Alikhanov, who is actively leading the region that is in a difficult situation, in this case he sings with someone else’s voice. And, most likely, this voice belongs to the owners of the aforementioned Avtotor.

Like other car companies that tirelessly put together foreign brands from foreign components – and they were engaged in this, in the apt expression of the mayor-boxer Klitschko, not just everyone – the Kaliningrad plant had nothing to take care of “partners”. He never got his hands on advanced technologies and the flow of spare parts stopped.

Since no one bothered to pick up these technologies when they were, figuratively speaking, under their feet, even more so now no one will make an effort and find solutions to get them anyway. This is not a royal affair – let the Chinese do such things.

What remains? Let’s hope for a quick return of the former owners, who will come and put things in order. First of all, convince yourself, as well as others, that this will happen very soon – literally just about. “Ah, it’s not hard to cheat on me! .. I myself am glad to be cheated!” And in anticipation of this bright moment, to fool the heads of state and ordinary citizens with chimerical projects for the production of tens of thousands of electric vehicles, for which, by the way, there are no domestic technologies either.

But what the hell isn’t a joke? Maybe Western brands are really asleep and see how to repent and resume cooperation with Russia? Let’s return to the interview with Anton Alikhanov. They would very much like to return, he says, but their leaders’ politics are holding them back. That is, top managers and other high-ranking managers do not see such disturbing dreams. Who then wants to restore the status quo before the crisis? Locksmith Mueller and welder Kim?

I remember that at the beginning of the unwinding of the spiral of sanctions, the idea was actively introduced into our heads that representatives of most EU countries expressed their support to us and behind the scenes. Granted, they always vote as Uncle Sam directed them to. Does it remind you of anything?

Hoping for a quick (and not even very quick) return of foreign car manufacturers is a pointless and even harmful activity. Compared to North America, our market is a small politician for each manufacturer. They prefer to move their production there, especially since the United States actively encourages them to do so, than to rush to repair broken ties with Russia, contrary to State Department guidelines.
