In the first half of 2023, Sollers will again start production of ZMZ 523 and 524 series engines at the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (now the Zavolzhsky branch of UAZ LLC).
“There is now a renewed demand in the market for our range of V8 engines, both for new buses and the aftermarket. We see a clear market need for this engine for the coming years,” said Ilnur Sakhabiev, director of the Zavolzhsky branch of UAZ LLC.
Recall that on December 29, 2021, the complete dissolution of the assembly line that produced the eight-cylinder ZMZ 523/524 was officially announced. And now decided to restore it. This 4.7-liter engine was first created in 1963. In the gasoline version of the ZMZ 523, it develops 124 horsepower. Of. power and 298 Nm of torque, in the dual-fuel (petrol + propane-butane) version of the ZMZ 524 – 138 hp. Of. and 314 Nm.
The engines of this series were delivered to the Pavlovsky bus plant of the GAZ Group for equipping the buses PAZ-3205 and PAZ-3203. Now the “grooves” are equipped only with the modern diesel “four” YaMZ-536, which is also used under the hood of the “Lawn Next”. Apparently they will now be equipped with ZMZ’s time-honored V8 again.
