In honor of the 150th anniversary of Pirelli and the 115th anniversary of participation in motorsport, the tire manufacturers have translated the famous book.
The author of “From Beijing to Paris in 60 Days”, journalist Luigi Barzini personally traveled for two months as part of a rally crew in an Itala car through China and Siberia, places where the car as such had never been seen before. The route of the race crossed almost all of Russia from east to west.
The story is filled with unique photos, as well as real stories that happened to the riders during the tests.
“It is generally accepted that the automotive culture of Russia is still relatively young, but this is not entirely true: only the vast areas of the country dictate their own laws. Anyone who travels through Russia by car is closer to Prince Borghese than to a tourist who has gone for a walk. That is why we at Pirelli are particularly pleased to have been helping to strengthen this spirit of travel for 115 years,” he said warmly of our country and of the journey through its vastness. CEO of Pirelli in Russia Aimone di Savoia Aosta.
Incidentally, the famous book has not only been translated, but also spoken. The popular actor and showman Gosha Gutsenko did not lay his hands on this without pleasure. And in honor of the cult race in the city of Kirov, where today one of the Russian Pirelli factories is located, a monument was erected – a forged Itala car, which was installed with the support of the regional government as a tribute to the history of the region and the Italian company, whose tires have left marks on Russian roads.
