3 reasons why a tire is constantly flat, but there is no flat
We all know very well that if the wheel goes down at a certain frequency, then most likely there is a screw, nail or self-tapping screw in the tire. But even without a puncture, the tire can deflate, which annoys the car owner with the need to constantly inflate the rim. Why this happens, the portal “AvtoVzglyad” found out.

To begin with, perhaps let’s not talk about tires, but about rims. If you are a fan of nice alloy wheels then you should know that they are quite sensitive to road and operating conditions. In other words, a crack in the asphalt or a creeping pothole can easily deform the disc. It would seem that visually nothing stands out, but after a few days you can easily come across a decayed balloon. Unfortunately, even a small change in cast wheel geometry can lead to a slow but sure drop in tire pressure.

No less, if not more insidious “fall” can be a banal crack in the rubber layer. It’s easy to get it. On our routes, it is enough to grab the sharp edge of the patch on the tarmac, or to hit the sidewall on a paved dune of mud or snow. Again, a microcrack may not be noticed with the naked eye, but daily pumping of the wheel will help understand that it exists and is allowing air to pass through.

And the tire can also be poisoned by improper storage, which rotates in front of the tire, albeit slightly, but deformation. Even a small defect in the rubber compound will easily give the tire a reason to deflate, making the driver nervous.

Here it is worth recalling that tires should be stored in a dry room. If they are stretched on discs, it is best to hang them. In the worst case, put the wheels on top of each other. The main thing is not to place them vertically, and this is a common mistake of motorists, which leads to tire defects. If the tires don’t have discs, then it’s the other way around – they need to be kept upright. In this case, this is the only correct storage method. No deformation of the frame and no pressure loss!

Did you know that new car tires have to be broken in? Why and how to do this, the AvtoVzglyad portal will tell.
