— We have already started the localization process of a two-liter diesel engine with a manual transmission, and we will merge these components, including in our UAZ products. This makes it possible to finally get a diesel engine with a modern six-speed gearbox on UAZ. In addition, we will restore the automatic transmission by 2024,” said Shirinov.
Apparently we are talking about a two-liter turbo diesel with a capacity of 139 liters. of. which is equipped with “commtrans” from Sollers – models Atlant and Argo (“no” – JAC Sunray and JAC N25 / N35). These commercial vehicles have recently been assembled from Chinese vehicle kits at the Sollers plant in Alabuga. They recently appeared on sale at Russian dealers.
Shirinov also said that at the moment there is no talk of creating a new generation of SUVs from the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, as this would require investments of at least half a billion dollars. At the same time, he does not exclude the arrival of a new platform for UAZs in the near future, Kommersant reports.
