When are insurers allowed to repair cars under OSAGO with parts from car disassembly

The head of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RSA), Evgeny Ufimtsev, said that already in the first quarter of the coming year, Russian cars will be repaired under OSAGO with used spare parts. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” reveals the “tricks” of the insurance lobby.

– To use used spare parts, you need to prepare legal documents and requirements, which takes at least three to six months. We will soon turn to the administration of the Primorsky Territory, where such details are most actively used to allow the repair of used spare parts in individual regions as an experiment. This project may start as early as the first quarter of 2023. We will hold a meeting with the Bank of Russia in January and discuss the measures for 2023,” said Ufimtsev.

True, the head of the RSA did not specify on what federal laws his “primorsky pilot” would work. But without amendments to the OSAGO legislation, any citizen whose car is repaired with spare parts from “car disassembly” will easily and, of course, demand a significant compensation from the insurance company for this.

Note that if insurers are still allowed to use “used” spare parts for repairs, they will immediately start using them in cases where it would be possible to get by with affordable new ones – to reduce their costs. And given the degree of cynicism and greed of Russian companies, we have no doubt that the described practice will immediately be introduced throughout the country in the restoration of not only right-hand drive cars, but in general all cars.

Incidentally, Ufimtsev once again called for an extension of the legal deadline for OSAGO repairs from the current 30 to 60 days, Izvestia reports.
