The National Automobile Distribution Federation (Fenabrave) reported last Friday (30) that the Onix was the best selling car in Brazil in the last month of 2022, in December. The Chevrolet Hatch has been in contention for the top spot on the list all last month, but only managed to hold on to the top spot in the last stretch of last year, managing to steal the top of the podium from one of the most popular cars in Brazil: the Gol.

Just over 8,000 Onix devices were sold in Brazil last month, according to figures released by Fenabrave last week. This number was enough to surpass the Gol, with 7,773 units sold. Despite being number one on the best-selling vehicle list, Chevrolet was unable to confirm the brand’s total sales.

Fiat Strada tops the list of best-selling cars of the year

That’s because Fiat was the automaker that sold the most cars in Brazil in December. Fenabrave stated that 41,272 units were sold. Meanwhile, GM, the group responsible for Chevrolet, was only in second place. The difference in first place sales was significant – 28,686 units. Volkswagen closed the podium slightly behind the best-selling competitor with 27,177 cars.

Without even ranking first among the brands that sold the most new cars in the past month, Chevrolet floated in flourishes and became the automaker’s favorite among the best-selling cars. This is because they still have Tracker and Onix Plus in the top five. Apart from the Gol, which ended up in second place, Fiat’s Mobi closed the list in fifth place with 6,800 expired vehicles.

Despite being the most popular in the month of December, Onix has not been able to repeat this feat when the whole year is taken into account. This is because the Fiat Strada was the best selling car in Brazil in 2022. Fenabrave reported that over 110,000 units were registered last year. On the list, HBO20 is still in second place with 93,521 cars sold, in addition to Onix and Onix Plus in third and fourth positions with 82,632 and 72,954 cars sold, respectively.
