Let us also recall plans to deliver up to 100,000 vehicles to Russia annually. This can be achieved because our countries set zero customs duties on 90% of goods. Can you rejoice? Do not hurry.
According to the AEB, the domestic car market fell by 59% last year. 687,370 new cars and light commercial vehicles could be sold. This year, many experts expect growth, but it will not be explosive, because citizens’ incomes have collapsed. Against this backdrop, the Iranians are unlikely to fully realize their plans. To occupy 14.5% of the market is an extremely difficult task, and even the “Koreans” did not immediately succeed.
There are also other questions. For example: when will the certification of cars start, who will sell them. There is also no information about the formation of a dealer network. It is worth recalling that success also requires a spare parts warehouse with a wide variety of consumables and body parts. If service becomes a “sore spot”, citizens will prefer AVTOVAZ products.
And the already mentioned 2,000 vehicles are much less than shipments to Azerbaijan. 3500 cars will be sent there. So for now we wait. The first batch should be understood as the desire of businessmen to “survey” the market. And only then invest seriously.
Finally, I wish the Iranians good luck, because we need cheap cars, just like airplanes.
