It started: Iran announced the start of exporting cars to Russia
The Islamic Republic is ready to provide cheap cars to our country. And this is no longer an empty slogan. Significant figures from local companies immediately explain the beginning of the process. But the exact dates are not yet clear and there are many more questions. About when to go on affordable and reliable cars, the portal “AvtoVzglyad” reflects.

Such a loud announcement was made by the CEO of Iran Khodro Industrial Group Mehdi Khatibi. According to him, quoted by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the company will send about 2,000 Tara and Dena cars to our market by the end of the year. Recall that it was Tara who took a central place in the exhibition MIMS-2022. It is a direct competitor of Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris and Volkswagen Polo sedan. Apparently on this model and make the main bet.

Under the hood of the “four-door” runs a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a capacity of 113 forces, combined with a five-speed “mechanics” or a six-speed “automatic”. His company buys in China: this is the Japanese “box” Aisin localized in China. By the way, “Iranians” are already imported into Russia through parallel imports, but so far there are very few cars.

IKCO Dena is a modernized model of Soren – the former Samand, which was sold with us 13 years ago. This car will compete with LADA Granta, but not in a simplified version, since there are ABS and other security systems.

Let us also recall plans to deliver up to 100,000 vehicles to Russia annually. This can be achieved because our countries set zero customs duties on 90% of goods. Can you rejoice? Do not hurry.

According to the AEB, the domestic car market fell by 59% last year. 687,370 new cars and light commercial vehicles could be sold. This year, many experts expect growth, but it will not be explosive, because citizens’ incomes have collapsed. Against this backdrop, the Iranians are unlikely to fully realize their plans. To occupy 14.5% of the market is an extremely difficult task, and even the “Koreans” did not immediately succeed.

There are also other questions. For example: when will the certification of cars start, who will sell them. There is also no information about the formation of a dealer network. It is worth recalling that success also requires a spare parts warehouse with a wide variety of consumables and body parts. If service becomes a “sore spot”, citizens will prefer AVTOVAZ products.

And the already mentioned 2,000 vehicles are much less than shipments to Azerbaijan. 3500 cars will be sent there. So for now we wait. The first batch should be understood as the desire of businessmen to “survey” the market. And only then invest seriously.

Finally, I wish the Iranians good luck, because we need cheap cars, just like airplanes.
