More and more Chevrolet Damas, subcompact microvans at a very attractive price, are appearing on car sales websites. However, if you are seriously thinking about purchasing such a machine, you should weigh everything up carefully: it can lead to a very unpleasant surprise.
Chevrolet Damas is one of the cheapest seven-seat cars you can find in Russia. Of course you don’t take such a car with you in your family, but why not as a workhorse? Among the main advantages of Damas, the owners call low fuel consumption, space, maneuverability and a price that is ridiculous at the moment: from 500,000 rubles for a three-year-old car and from 740,000 rubles for a car without a run.
However, with all these pluses, the baby bus has one serious minus. The editors of Quto drew attention to the fact that in Kazakhstan, where the “Damas” come from, they were released under conditions “without the right to export to the territory of other countries of the Customs Union.” Private traders and dealers offering cars in Russia under the “gray” scheme violate this prohibition. Nothing terrible has happened so far, but one day all Damasas may become real estate or spare parts donors.
The fact is that the microvan is equipped with a 38 hp Euro-3 carburetor engine – the engine does not meet the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union. This means that the SBKTS (certificate “On the safety of the vehicle structure” required for the entry of a car into the territory of the Russian Federation) can be canceled at any time, and this will affect all cars that have previously crossed the border crossed border.
Of course, this is all just a theory – it is not at all a fact that one day the owners of Chevrolet Damas will face such a problem. However, it is still worth remembering the risks for those looking at the microvan.
