Heady 2020s: why not buy spare parts at car yards now?

Even a minor car accident is a serious shock these days. Not only has the restoration work increased significantly in price, the timing of the repair was also delayed. Service stations, if you entrust them with the search for the necessary spare parts, even lay out minor operations for several months, and if something serious is needed, write wasted – up to a year. It seems that the solution to the problem lies on the surface: call the disassembly and collect everything you need in a few days. Well, we tried.
The first thing I came across was truly fantastic pricing. If the new “original” costs 100,000 rubles, and the analogue costs 50,000, then when disassembled they offer the same part for 80,000 or 100,000 rubles. The reason is an ultimatum: they say, you can pick it up from us even today, but how much the store will carry and whether it will bring it at all is the question. The sellers are right, so what: the delivery time for each piece of hardware is now 30 to 60 days, and no one guarantees success. At best, they will return the money, and at worst, they will simply evaporate with them like fog in the morning.
The second important argument is the almost complete lack of choice. Many, for example, body elements, even in Moscow – a city where thousands of enterprises are engaged in analysis – are sometimes present in a single copy. Good condition for the price of new. With scratches or dents “under repair” – with a small discount of about 10-20%. That’s called surviving! Even in a wholesale purchase, the seller, with ill-concealed reluctance, goes to auction: and so they will take it away.
For mass budget cars – Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris, Volkswagen Polo and other “residents” of taxi companies – you can still pick up an analogue that is still in stock. There, and disassembly, by the way, more accommodating and more choice. Sometimes you manage to find “even in color” – a forgotten, but pleasant feeling. But as soon as you go beyond the current models, the chaos begins: parts even disappear from stock, and some sellers ask without hesitation to “throw it” to outbid another buyer’s price. Heady 2020s, the beginning.
This process will be completed with the adjustment of rail deliveries from China, the reduction of the financial and logistical route from the UAE, as well as the strengthening of relations with Georgia and Armenia, with spare parts now being transported to Russia by echelon. The question is not only about the road and the price, but also about the currency: the transition to trading in rubles, dirhams, yuan, rabbits will immediately simplify the problem of providing “sanctions”. And it has already launched.
So we will have to drive with a rusty fender and a crumpled hood until those in power solve our pressing problems. And automatic dismantling, unfortunately, can no longer withstand the shortage: the metal must be forged while hot.
